Meet A Member: Mark Lynch

Mark has been a member of Choices since 1998! He decided to come to Choices because he was struggling with gambling and living on the streets but had gotten involved with PEZ who suggested Choices to him. He didn’t even know what Choices was at first- he thought it was a restaurant. Not only is Mark a member but he is also an employee of Choices after being a consistent member for over four years. Mark met his wife Candy and was encouraged to start looking for a job, that’s when he started working for Choices when he knew they needed an employee. 

He’s worked at the front desk, in the kitchen and cleaning! At first he was only working one day a week but he was then promoted to working five days a week. Mark says, “I knew I made the best coffee!”. Mark says meeting Candy really got him hooked on coming and being an active member of Choices. 

Mark enjoys playing Kismet, Spades, Bingo, and Kanassa with his wife Candy and even taught her how to play some of the games. He says that everyone enjoyed the way he played at Choices and he was almost unbeatable! Mark also enjoys the outings at Choices, he says he is thankful for the opportunities to go places he otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to visit. He also enjoys the OTA visitors and likes to listen to the groups they offer. 

He has gotten to get to know a variety of people at Choices. He appreciates others' opinions and advice they offer. He likes to hear what people think and problem-solve together. 

Despite his mental and physical health at times he always stays positive. Mark comes in everyday with a smile on his face and makes sure to ask everyone how they’re doing. Mark is caring, kind, and a blessing to Choices.
