What’s Happening at Choices?
Hello, everyone! For those of you who are new to Choices, Choices A Community Social Center is a non-profit based in Akron, Ohio. Choices is a nonprofit agency created to provide social, recreational, informational and educational services for adults who are receiving mental health services in Summit County.
Welcome to our brand new website! We are so excited to have been able to launch the new site after months of hard work, rebranding and everything in between. For those of you who have known Choices or have interacted with us before you may have noticed that our logo has changed. We worked together to decide how we wanted to be portrayed in the community and to our members and decided that the new logo had to signify something greater. To us, the new logo symbolizes a new start, community, a recovery journey and growth into who we were made to be. We wanted to engage the members and make something they could be excited about. Our hope is that other individuals in the community who are struggling with the same things as our members, will see Choices as somewhere to go and be in company with others who are willing to navigate through life together. Recovery journeys look different for every individual but when you surround yourself with those who are going through similar struggles, it is easier to navigate your own.
Although Covid-19 has had effects on the center, including shutting down for a period of time and now taking precautions while being back open, we have not stopped supporting, caring and encouraging members. There are so many projects going on behind the scenes at Choices to improve member experience and encourage more community involvement and we could not be any more excited about the future of Choices.
Choices has been working with an outside Marketer, Aimee Juarez of SolBrand Design, who has assisted in re-branding our non-profit. She has taken lead in the reimaging of the logo, the new website design, fundraising tips and much more. She has given us contact information to others in the community so that we will be better abled to improve the center. Along with Aimee, Choices has hired a new full-time Marketing Specialist, Sara Coberly who will be focusing on things like social media, fundraising events, newsletters and other various tasks. Our hopes are that these efforts will excite and encourage out current members and bring in new members!
We have also recently welcomed a new Bookkeeper/Outreach coordinator to the Choices family, Chris Wallace. Chris has connections in the Summit County area and we look forward to her talents in bringing in new members, donors and much more!
Choices has a bright future! Our staff, members and board directors are all working hard to make Choices a welcoming, fun and comfortable place to be.
